Social Gerontology and Life Course Research
Focus of research and teaching
In the professorship “Social Gerontology and Life Course Research”, we deal with different problems “around the topic of age” within the framework of interdisciplinary and application-oriented research projects. These primarily include projects on nursing care for the ageing people and elderly as well as currently on social inequality in the world of work. In the current doctoral projects, the spectrum of topics covered ranges from “relationships of brothers and sisters in old age” to “aging in agriculture” and “depression in old age”. With seminars on social gerontology, our range of courses is primarily aimed at the master’s degree in “Aging Societies”, but we are also involved in other Bachelor and Master’s courses in the faculty.
